San Salvador is a very relaxed and peaceful island. You can find endless beaches where you are alone. You can explore the island by foot, by bicycle, scooter or by rental car. Big Game Fishing and Fly Fishing on San Salvador
San Salvador is truly a unique gem in The Bahamas. Perhaps it is most famous for its world-class, big game-fishing. The south-eastern Bahama islands are considered some of the best fishing for Wahoo, Blue Marlin, Tuna and Dolphin. San Salvador and its sister island Rum Cay, as well as Cat Island, continue to be a favorite location for those who want to get away from the crowds and focus on fishing. Tournaments are held annually in the South-eastern Bahamas. For fly fishing, the flats of Pigeon Creek are a must.

Bahamas Diving with Riding Rock Resort and Marina
The island is known for snorkeling and scuba diving. There are many dive sites with caves, crevices, grottos, reefs and walls. The majority of the diving takes place among the many dive sites that are located in close proximity to the marina on the islands lee side, so rough seas are rarely encountered.
The two dive boats are docked in the marina, which is also the location of Guanahani Divers, equipment rental, and gear storage facility. Both boats are suitable for 20 divers. Sun decks, water rinse barrels, large swim platforms with ladder, seated tank racks, bottled drinking water, ice chest with fresh fruit, and well-maintained safety gear is available on both boats.

Shopping on San Salvador
There are three grocery stores, two in town: "Dorette's", "Russel's (Island Distributors)" and "Dis Da One" a little north of Cockburn Town.
There is also a BTC store (Bahamas Tele Communications) with cellphones, SIM cards and data.
There is one Gas Station in town. They also fill propain tanks.
The Ministry Of Tourism Office is located in town, on the left hand side as you're driving north from town to the airport.
There is also a Bank Of The Bahamas with an ATM. Note: The ATM does not take Master Cards. You have to go inside the bank to withdraw money from that.
By the airport, you have "Simply Bahamian", a gift store with gifts, beautiful handmade products, liquor and souvernirs, located right across the road from the airport, next to "Wendie's Bar".
There is another gift store in the building next to it.
On the other side of "Wendie's Bar", there is a Scooter Rental.
North of the Airport you'll be passing the Medical Community Clinic.
A little further north you'll find Island Plaza with a store that sells drinking water, "The Home Center", a clothing store and a "700 Wines and Spirits" liquor store. Serenity Restaurant is also located there.
5 minutes further north you'll find the "MT Hardware Store".
The house before you come to the MT Hardware Store features Tiny's Drug and Beauty Supply with lots of different items, cold drinks and snacks.
